Correct Method for Rewinding the Hose
Overview
Correct hose rewind technique is essential to protect the hose reel mechanism and prevent unnecessary system shutdown.
Improper rewinding — particularly when pulling the hose around vehicle tyres or obstacles — can trigger the reel safety protection system.
Correct Rewind Procedure
When rewinding the hose:
• Ensure the hose path is clear of tyres, obstacles and sharp edges.
• Walk the hose back toward the enclosure in as straight a line as possible.
• Avoid dragging the hose sideways across tyres.
• Remove twists or kinks before activating rewind.
• Use the slow-speed rewind setting.
The operator should guide the hose evenly back onto the reel.
Use of Reel Speed
The slow-speed setting is recommended for normal operation.
Using slow speed:
• Reduces strain on the hose
• Prevents sudden tension spikes
• Reduces the risk of triggering the safety cut-out
• Extends reel lifespan
High-speed rewind should not be used as a default setting.
Reel Safety Protection System
The hose reel is fitted with a safety system that monitors resistance.
If excessive tension is detected — for example:
• The hose is wrapped around a tyre
• The hose is trapped under a vehicle
• The hose is pulled at a sharp angle
• A coupling is obstructed
The reel will stop automatically to prevent damage.
If the Reel Stops
If the reel stops during rewind:
• Release the rewind control immediately.
• Check for resistance or obstruction.
• Straighten the hose path.
• Resume rewind once clear.

Do not ignore reel alarms or resistance.
Forcing the rewind mechanism against obstruction can:
• Damage the hose
• Damage couplings
• Damage the reel motor
• Cause system downtime
