📄 Can Vehicles Drive Over the Hose?

Can Vehicles Drive Over the Hose?

Yes — vehicles may pass over the hose during normal forecourt operations.

However, care must be taken to prevent damage to the hose, couplings and reel mechanism.

Important Operating Guidance

• Allow the vehicle to fully pass over the hose before operating the rewind.

• Do not retract the hose while a vehicle is positioned on it.

• Avoid driving directly over hose terminations  (couplings, fittings and gun lances).

• Do not allow vehicles to turn their steering wheels while stationary on top of the hose.

⚠️

Whilst driving over the pressure hose is permitted, driving over the gun lance, or the connections will cause irreversible damage.

Reel Safety Cut-Out

The hose reel is fitted with a safety cut-out mechanism.

If the hose is under excessive resistance — such as when a vehicle is positioned on it — the reel will automatically stop to prevent damage.

If this occurs:

• Release the rewind control.

• Ensure the hose is free from obstruction.

• Resume rewind once clear. If rewind doesn't resume, you may need to reset the reel - see the troubleshooting guide.

Best Practice

Where possible:

• Lay the hose to minimise vehicle crossings.

• Avoid repeated vehicle movement over the same section of hose.

💡

Rewinding the reel in straight lines rather than pulling the hose around tyres or obstacles is important to ensure the safety alarms don't activate.

Careful hose management will extend equipment life and reduce downtime.
